I do get a kick
out of all the gimmicks that abound online nowadays, all geared toward promising
you "more and more subscribers," as if "subscribers" were
senseless, valueless non-entities. Fact of the matter is, there is no point in

mailings - or more likely unsubscribe the first time you email them anything.
Heed these words: for every
mailing you send out, a fair percentage of your subscribers will unsubscribe.
Doesn't matter what you send out. You are going to get some people who just

don't personalize your subject line. But even so, you can expect to lose some
subscribers with every mailing.
Now, if you send out high quality,
need to know, interesting, intriguing, original, amusing or entertaining
information, stuff that your subscribers genuinely look forward to receiving in
their mailboxes every week, then you can expect to hang on to most of
your subscribers and to build a solid rapport with them.
REMEMBER THESE WORDS: PEOPLE BUY FROM PEOPLE
THEY TRUST!
On the other hand, if you start
off by mailing out blatant sales pitches or even subtle ad offers without first
building a solid relationship, you are going to lose half of your list right off
the bat. Your subscribers sign up to receive information from you, not to be
sold to. Above all, you must do your utmost to build a good solid rapport with
them before you can even think about turning around and trying to sell anything
to them.
If you are going
to build a list that is worth anything, you have to build a relationship with
your subscribers. They have to know that they can trust you, and the only way
you can earn this trust is to show them that you respect and value their time,
just as you expect them to respect and value yours. It's a two way street, and
the surest way to get this relationship off on the right footing is to take
